Shiromani Akali Dal Councillor Harjinder Singh Shot Dead in Amritsar; Police Reassess Earlier Shooting Incident at His Residence
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Shiromani Akali Dal councilor Harjinder Singh was shot dead by unknown assailants in Amritsar on Sunday. This incident took place near a Gurdwara Sahib near Chheharta with Jandiala Guru councilor Harjinder Singh, when bike-borne assailants targeted him. This incident has spread panic in the area. Police has reached the spot and started investigating the case.
According to the information received, Harjinder Singh had come to attend a program in Chhaherta. As soon as he was passing near the Gurudwara, the attackers riding on a bike fired bullets at him, due to which he died on the spot. However, the reasons for the murder have not been revealed yet.
According to the police, a few days ago there was an incident of firing at Harjinder Singh's house. The police is also including this aspect in its investigation and is trying to identify the attackers. At present, there is tension in the area and the police is trying to control the situation.
