‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Campaign Launched Across Jalandhar Villages
Jalandhar(The Uttam Hindu): The Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Jalandhar, has launched the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign with a series of activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and awareness across all villages in the district. The campaign, which began on September 17, will continue until October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
District Sanitation Officer and officiating Executive Engineer Sukhdeep Singh Dhaliwal informed that rallies are being organized in schools and villages to spread awareness about hygiene. Villagers and students are not only participating in cleaning drives but are also being administered an oath of cleanliness.
Dhaliwal added that with the cooperation of the public, dump yards across villages are being cleaned. Camps will also be organized for sanitation workers, while on October 2, a special felicitation ceremony will be held to honour the “Swachhta Heroes” for their contribution to the campaign.
SDOs Gagandeep Singh Walia, Alok Arora, Jorawar Singh and JE Rohit Kumar along with other department staff were also present during the launch of the campaign. The department stressed that the campaign is not limited to cleaning alone but also focuses on sustainable sanitation practices and community participation to ensure long-term results.
