Chhattisgarh train tragedy: Passenger train slams into goods train; 6 killed, multiple coaches derailed- watch video

Bilaspur (The Uttam Hindu): A major and tragic railway accident occurred in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday evening. A passenger train and a freight train collided head-on near Lalkhadan on the Howrah-Hai route. The impact was so severe that several coaches of the passenger train derailed, causing panic and chaos among passengers.

According to preliminary information, the collision occurred between a Korba passenger train and a freight train. Six people have been reported dead so far in this horrific accident, while several passengers have also been injured. The injured are being immediately rushed to nearby hospitals. Officials fear the death toll may rise, as rescue operations are still underway.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the railway administration immediately dispatched a medical unit and rescue team to the scene. Railway officials and employees are present at the scene, and the local administration is also engaged in rescue operations. A large crowd of people has gathered at the scene.

The accident occurred on the Bilaspur-Katni railway line, one of the busiest in the country. Due to the accident, train operations along the entire route have been completely disrupted. The railways has cancelled several trains, while others are being diverted.
