A shoe store offered expensive shoes for just one rupee, prompting people from several surrounding districts to flock to the store. The crowd quickly grew so large that the situation spiraled out of control, forcing police to resort to lathi charge to control the situation.
According to reports, the shop had issued an advertisement stating that the first 100 customers would receive shoes for just one rupee. News of this offer quickly went viral on social media, and people began gathering outside the shop late into the night.

Sunday morning. Many had been lining up as early as 2 a.m. to be among the first 100 customers. As morning approached, the crowd steadily grew, leading to a stampede-like situation.
People from other districts also arrived, including a large number of young people and children. It is being reported that people from far-flung areas, even from Wayanad district, came to take advantage of this offer. A young man from Wayanad said that he reached the shop around 2:30 am, but even then there was a huge crowd there.
Due to the increasing crowd, there was chaos in the area and a long jam occurred on the road. Seeing the situation getting out of control, the police had to reach the spot and intervene. To control the crowd and prevent a stampede like situation, the police did a mild lathi charge. After the incident, the police have taken the shop owner into custody on the charges of spreading tension and creating chaos in the area. The matter is being investigated.
