New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Chennai-born Arvind Srinivas has set a new record by becoming India's youngest billionaire, according to the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025. Srinivas launched an artificial intelligence (AI) startup just a few years ago in 2022, which has propelled him to this position.
Srinivas is the CEO and co-founder of the popular AI platform Perplexity AI. The AI platform has seen a surge in popularity recently, with its active users reaching 22 million. According to reports, Arvind Srinivas's net worth is estimated at ₹21,190 crore.
The prestigious list also includes other young entrepreneurs like Zepto co-founders Kaivalya Vohra (22) and Adit Palicha (23). According to the report, India now has a total of 358 billionaires, while the number of people with a net worth of over ₹1,000 crore has risen to 1,687.
Born on June 7, 1994, in Chennai, Arvind Srinivas had a keen interest in science and problem-solving since childhood. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from IIT Madras and subsequently completed a PhD in computer science from Berkeley. During his research, he worked on cutting-edge topics such as transformer-based vision models.
In 2022, Arvind Srinivas, along with Denis Yarats and Andy Konwinski, founded Perplexity AI. Their goal was to create a chatbot-based search engine that could provide accurate and direct answers to people's questions. Their idea was successful, and today Perplexity AI has millions of users worldwide.
