Lucknow (The Uttar Hindu): In the capital Lucknow, miscreants committed a daring crime in broad daylight. Two youths, who came to Dubagga area on the pretext of buying a SUV, beat up a car agency employee during the test drive, threw him out of the moving car and fled with a Fortuner worth lakhs. On the complaint of the victim businessman, the police recovered the car late night and arrested one accused, but serious questions are being raised on the police in this case. It is alleged that instead of registering this incident of beating and forceful snatching of the car as robbery, the Dubagga police has made it a case of simple theft.

Mohammad Aleem, a resident of Balaganj in Thakurganj, runs a showroom for buying and selling old cars named 'Power Car Sale' near Andhe Ki Chowki. According to Aleem, on Wednesday afternoon, two young men came to his shop posing as customers and expressed their desire to buy a Fortuner parked there. Saying that they liked the car, both of them asked for a test drive. At this, Aleem sent his employee Yasin with them.

It is alleged that as soon as they reached Kasmandi on Hardoi Road, the youths revealed their true colours. They started beating Yasin and threw him out of the moving vehicle and fled with the Fortuner. The injured Yasin somehow informed his owner about the incident on phone, after which Alim immediately reached Dubagga police station and lodged a complaint.

According to Inspector Dubagga, Abhinav Verma, the police started action as soon as the complaint was received. With the help of CCTV footage, the Fortuner has been recovered from near Bajnagar underpass on Kisan Path. In this case, an accused Aman, a resident of Kaliakheda, Kakori, has been taken into custody and is being questioned, while the search for his other accomplice is on. However, questions have been raised about the police not registering a case under robbery sections, but registering a case of theft, despite assaulting the employee and snatching the car.
