Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): Police have solved the mystery of a skeleton lying in an empty house in Nampally area of Hyderabad for 10 years. The skeleton found by chance on Monday has been identified as a person named Aamir Khan, who died about a decade ago. The whole case was revealed with the help of an old Nokia mobile phone, demonetised notes and identification by the brother of the deceased.

Old phone and demonetised notes revealed the mystery

Police said on Tuesday that on Monday a person found this skeleton in the kitchen of this empty house while searching for a ball. During investigation, police found an old Nokia mobile phone near the skeleton and old demonetised notes from under the pillow.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kishan Kumar said that the phone's battery had died. When it was repaired and started, the last call in its call log was from the year 2015 and there were 84 missed calls in it. The old notes confirmed that the death had taken place even before demonetisation, i.e. before November 2016.

Brother identified ring and clothes

Police said the house belonged to Munir Khan and the skeleton appears to be of his third son Amir Khan, who was unmarried and lived alone in the house. Amir's younger brother Shadab, who collects rent from nearby shops, identified a ring and shorts found on the skeletal remains.

According to the ACP, Aamir Khan was around 50 years old at the time of his death and was mentally deranged. The police have not found any signs of struggle or blood at the scene, which makes it appear to be a natural death. The surprising thing is that in the last 10 years, none of his siblings or relatives took any care of him. The police have sent the skeletal remains to the forensic lab for final confirmation of the identity.
