Man Fakes Own Death, Undergoes Sterilization to Meet Lover; Lands in Jail

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): A man in America crossed all limits of deception and lies to meet his online girlfriend. He not only deceived his family and faked his death, but also got himself sterilized to go to Uzbekistan. However, his drama did not last long and he was arrested. Now the court has sentenced him to the same number of days in jail as he was 'dead' for his family and the police.

According to ABC News, 45-year-old Ryan Borgwardt of Wisconsin befriended a woman from Uzbekistan on social media. He hatched a dangerous plot to leave his wife and children and start a new life with that woman.

According to Sky News, in August last year, Ryan told his wife that he was going for kayaking on Green Lake. After this, he mysteriously disappeared from there. In the initial investigation, the police thought that he might have drowned in the lake, but even after a lot of searching, his body was not found.

When the police started investigating the case in depth, the layers started to unravel. The officers found out that Ryan had got a new passport made just before he went missing. Not only this, he had also undergone surgery (Vasectomy Reversal) to remove his sterilization and had also bought a new life insurance policy. These evidences made it clear that Ryan did not drown, but ran away after faking his death.

The police arrested him on the way. During his court appearance, Ryan said that he regretted his actions and was sorry that he had caused great pain to his friends and loved ones. His lawyer demanded a reduction in the sentence on this plea.

The court has sentenced Ryan Borgwardt to 89 days in prison. This punishment is also special because he was declared missing or dead by the police and his family for exactly 89 days.
