Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A case has come to light that tarnishes the reputation of Mumbai, the country's financial capital and the city considered the safest for women. A late-night auto-rickshaw ride on Mumbai's streets turned into a nightmare for two women when the driver publicly misbehaved with them and threatened to kill them. The video of this incident is rapidly going viral on social media, and people are filled with anger after watching it. Netizens are calling it a shame for Mumbai and are raising questions that if women are not safe even in crowded areas, then how hollow are the claims of safety.

The incident occurred when a young woman named Tina Soni was traveling with her friend from Bandra station to the Jio Convention Center. According to the victim, the journey started normally, but on the way, the driver suddenly began objecting to their loud conversation. The situation escalated to the point where the driver ordered them to get off the auto midway.

The dispute escalated when the girls stated that they would pay the full fare only after reaching their destination. Upon hearing this, the driver lost his temper and began abusing the girls. Tina alleged that the driver shouted to the crowd, threatening to "beat them to death right there." The situation escalated when he threatened to call his friends to intimidate the girls and even tried to run them over with the auto while recording a video.

The most worrying aspect of this incident was that while this was happening, the road was bustling with activity, and traffic police were stationed nearby. The viral video clearly shows that no passerby or police officer intervened to help the girls. Taking advantage of this, the driver threatened the girls and fled the scene. Currently, the victim, Tina Soni, has filed a formal complaint with the police, providing the video and the auto driver's number as evidence. The police have registered a case and begun searching for the accused driver.
