Tejas crash: Wing commander Namnash Syal's final moments captured - see viral video
Dubai (The Uttam Hindu): On the final day of the Dubai Air Show 2025, the Indian Air Force witnessed a tragic incident when India's indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft crashed during a demonstration. Wing Commander Namnash Syal, the pilot flying the aircraft, was martyred on the spot. The Indian Air Force confirmed the incident, expressed condolences, and ordered a Court of Inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. The accident occurred at around 2:10 pm (local time) on Friday at Al Maktoum International Airport while the aircraft was performing aerobatics. During a low roll, the aircraft lost balance and crashed to the ground with a loud bang.
Amidst this heartbreaking incident, a video of martyred Wing Commander Namnash Syal, taken just before the accident, has surfaced and is now going viral on social media. It's being considered the martyred pilot's "last video," bringing tears to everyone's eyes. In the video, Wing Commander Namnash Syal appeared completely healthy and full of confidence. He can be seen with Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal, and Additional Secretary (Gulf) of the Ministry of External Affairs Aseem Mahajan. Looking at the smile on his face in this video, no one could have imagined that just moments later, this promising pilot would make the supreme sacrifice for the country. Previously, Namnash had also won everyone's hearts with his impressive performance at the Guwahati Air Show.
Wing Commander Namansh Syal was originally from Nagrota Bagwan in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. When news of 34-year-old Namansh's martyrdom reached his village at 3 pm on Friday, mourning spread there. Crowds gathered outside his house, and his family members were inconsolable. The martyr's uncle, Joginder Syal, informed that the Wing Commander's body would arrive at Gaggal Airport at 2 pm on Sunday. He would then be cremated with full state and military honors at his ancestral cremation ground in Selud. The Air Force has stated that it stands firmly with the bereaved family in this difficult time.
