Video of couple’s obscene act on Namo Bharat train goes viral; case registered
Ghaziabad (The Uttam Hindu) : After a video surfaced of an alleged objectionable act on the Namo Bharat Express train running on the Delhi-Meerut route, the matter has now escalated rapidly. Based on a complaint from the NCRTC, a case has been registered against three people at the Muradnagar police station. In addition to the boy and girl who had sex on the moving train, an FIR has been filed against the employee who made the obscene video viral. The accused employee has already been dismissed from his job.
How did the matter come to light?
A week ago, a video clip went viral on social media, after which some more clips also surfaced. It is being claimed that the young man and woman seen in the video are college students, but the police have not yet confirmed the claims related to their identity/education. Now the investigating agencies are trying to identify both by examining the route and travel records based on the footage. According to the complaint, the recording was made from the CCTV feed of the train and made viral on social media. An FIR has also been registered against the accused operator/employee Rishabh Kumar in this matter and he has been removed from service.
A police officer involved in the investigation stated that an investigation has been launched. Efforts are being made to identify the couple seen in the video. Their route is being retraced through CCTV footage. If found guilty, under Section 296 of the BNS, the accused face a maximum of three months' imprisonment, a fine of up to 1,000 rupees, or both. Section 77 provides for a minimum of one year to a maximum of three years' imprisonment and a fine.
