Rohit Sharma makes big decision after BCCI's recent order, Virat Kohli's reply still awaited
Mumbai(The Uttam Hindu): Rohit Sharma has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting December 24, after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mandated senior players to participate in domestic cricket to remain eligible for India's ODI team and the 2027 World Cup. This move is seen as a major boost for Mumbai's campaign, with Rohit looking to maintain his match fitness and form ahead of India's ODI series against New Zealand in January.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli's availability remains uncertain, with the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) yet to receive confirmation from the 37-year-old, who currently resides in London. The BCCI has made it clear that participation in domestic cricket is non-negotiable for players, including established stars like Rohit and Kohli, to maintain match readiness and remain eligible for the national team.
Rohit, who last played for Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy match earlier this year, is also considering participation in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, starting November 26. The 38-year-old has been training at Mumbai's Sharad Pawar Indoor Academy to prepare for the domestic season.
