Strengthening ties — 9 UK universities set to establish campuses in India

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is on a visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed his counterpart Keir Starmer at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Thursday. During this, a meeting was held as part of the process of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi said in the joint press conference, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Starmer, there has been significant progress in the relations between India and Britain. During my visit to Britain in July this year, we agreed on the historic 'Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement'.


Your (Starmer) visit to India, just months after the agreement, and the largest business delegation ever accompanying you, symbolises the new energy and broad vision in the India-UK partnership." He said, "In the current era of global instability, this growing partnership between India and the UK is becoming an important pillar of global stability and economic progress." British PM Keir Starmer announced in Mumbai that 9 UK universities will open campuses in India. Apart from this, both the countries announced the establishment of an 'Industry Guild and Supply Chain Observatory' for cooperation on critical minerals. It will have a satellite campus at the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
