Big action by security forces in Pakistan, 45 terrorists killed and 19 soldiers martyred
Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): A major counter-terrorism action has taken place in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the Pakistan Army, at least 45 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were killed while 19 soldiers were also martyred in clashes in three different areas between September 10 and 13. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that "Pakistan will continue to fight terrorism with all its might." He visited Bannu along with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and participated in a high-level meeting to curb terrorism.
Pakistan under international pressure
Experts believe that this action has also been taken to improve Pakistan's international image. Pakistan has been accused of providing shelter to terrorists for a long time. India has raised this issue on international forums many times.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, India had clarified that its policy on terrorism is zero tolerance. Since then, global pressure on Pakistan has increased. In such a situation, analysts believe that by taking action against terrorists, Pakistan wants to show that it is strict against terrorism.
