Another Hindu youth killed in Bangladesh, mob lynches 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver
Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): Another incident of violence against a Hindu youth has been reported from Bangladesh. The incident took place in the Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district, where a mob allegedly killed a Hindu man named Samir Das. The body of 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Samir Das was recovered from a field in Jagatpur village.
According to family members and police, as reported by Bangladeshi Bengali daily Daily Manobkantha, Samir left his home on Sunday evening in his auto-rickshaw. When he did not return late at night, his relatives began searching for him in nearby areas. Later, local residents discovered his body lying in a field in Jagatpur village under the Sadar Union of the upazila and informed the police.
Police reached the spot and recovered the body. Reports said that several stab wounds were found on the body. Preliminary investigation suggests that Samir was taken to a deserted location and brutally killed during an attempt to steal his auto-rickshaw.
Confirming the incident, Daganbhuiyan Police Station officer Muhammad Faizul Azim Noman said that the body has been sent to the morgue of Feni General Hospital for post-mortem examination. He added that the victim’s auto-rickshaw has not yet been recovered. Police have launched a special operation to identify and arrest those involved in the murder and to recover the stolen vehicle.
This incident marks the ninth such case in the last 24 days, highlighting a rise in violence targeting Hindu communities across Bangladesh. On January 9, India once again expressed serious concern over repeated attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh. India continues to closely monitor the situation in the neighboring country and expects strict action against those responsible for communal violence.
