Anti-Khalistan Activist Sukhi Chahal Dies in America, Was Receiving Threats; Police Begin Probe
Washington DC/California (The Uttam Hindu): Sukhi Chahal, an Indian-American businessman living in California, USA and a vocal opponent of Khalistan ideology, has died under suspicious circumstances. His sudden death has caused a wave of mourning in the Indian community, while the police have started an investigation. Chahal's close friend Jaspal Singh said that Sukhi was invited to dinner by an acquaintance on the evening of July 31. After the meal, his health suddenly deteriorated and he died on the spot. Jaspal said that Sukhi Chahal was completely healthy and his sudden death raises many questions.

He was the founder and CEO of 'The Khalsa Today' media network and had been receiving threats for some time due to his criticism of Khalistani elements. Another acquaintance of his, Buta Singh Kaler, said that Chahal's death has come as a big shock to the pro-India community in America. He said, "Chahal was a supporter of truth and remained firm on his views despite threats."
The California police is investigating the case and the postmortem report is awaited to ascertain the cause of death. Officials have not ruled out any angle yet. Sukhi Chahal, born in Mansa district of Punjab, moved to the US in 1992. After studying engineering from Guru Nanak Engineering College in Ludhiana, he did special courses related to management and computer science at Stanford and UC Berkeley. He worked in senior positions in many leading companies of Silicon Valley.
Chahal was also the founder and chairman of a non-profit organisation called 'Punjab Foundation', which works for the education of poor children. Socially active Chahal also worked for communal unity among Hindu, Sikh and Jewish communities. According to 'The Khalsa Today' report, Chahal was also playing a leading role in efforts to strengthen strategic and economic relations between India and America by working with the Indian government and American business leaders.
