‘Asim Munir is Like Laden’: Ex-US Official Urges to Declare Pakistan a Terrorist State
New York (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir's recent nuclear statement has evoked a sharp reaction in the US. Former senior Pentagon official Michael Rubin condemned Asim Munir's threatening remarks in the US and called him a representative of a "rogue country".
Rubin's remarks came after Gen Munir said during a meeting with US military officials in Tampa, Florida, that if Pakistan perished, it would destroy half the world along with it.
' Asim Munir is like terrorist Laden… he should be expelled from America', former US official said- declare Pakistan a terrorist country : Reacting to this statement, Rubin said, "Pakistan's behavior is completely unacceptable. The army chief's rhetoric reminds us of ISIS and Osama bin Laden. Pakistan is proving whether it is really a responsible nation or not."
Rubin said that Asim Munir's language resembles the rhetoric of extremist organizations like Islamic State. He has appealed to the US to take immediate diplomatic action. He demanded that Pakistan's status of 'major non-NATO ally' be immediately revoked and it be declared a 'terrorist sponsoring country'. He said, General Munir should be declared 'undesirable person' in the US and his visa should be banned and he should be immediately expelled from the US.
"Asim Munir should have been kicked out 30 minutes after he made those comments," Rubin said. "Munir is Osama bin Laden in a suit," he added. Rubin also warned that it was time for the US to take strong steps to safeguard Pakistan's nuclear weapons to ensure regional and global security.
