Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): A massive explosion rocked Peshawar, Pakistan, causing widespread panic. Initial reports indicate the blast occurred inside the police's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) station. The blast was so powerful that several parts of the building collapsed.

According to local police officials, one person was killed and several others were seriously injured in the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, where some were reported to be in critical condition.

Initial police investigations have determined the blast was caused by a short circuit, but officials also said the possibility of a terrorist attack cannot be ruled out. According to police sources, the blast likely occurred in an explosives storage area, causing surrounding walls and ceilings to collapse. Following the blast, investigating agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Bomb disposal squads and forensic teams are on the scene and collecting evidence.

This is not the first time that explosions have occurred in Peshawar or surrounding areas. In September of this year, a powerful bomb exploded in the Quetta area, killing 13 people. A Pakistani army vehicle was targeted in that attack. A video of the blast went viral on social media, showing the army vehicle speeding down the road when suddenly a powerful explosion occurred, blowing the vehicle to pieces. Following the Peshawar blast, security has been increased throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Additional forces have been deployed at sensitive locations, and all police stations have been instructed to remain alert.
