Blast in Islamabad: Car explodes outside court, 12 killed, over 20 Injured
Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu) : A powerful explosion has occurred outside the District Judicial Complex in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. According to local media, at least six people have been injured in the incident.
According to Sama TV, the sound of the blast was heard as far as the Police Lines headquarters, causing panic in the surrounding areas. Amid the chaos, emergency teams and security forces immediately reached the spot. The entire area was cordoned off after the blast. Some photos and videos are going viral on social media in which police officials confirmed that the blast occurred in vehicles parked in the court parking lot. The blast damaged several vehicles and seriously injured six people, who were admitted to PIMC Hospital for treatment. According to Dawn News, the blast took place in G-11 area of Islamabad.
According to Hum News, the bomb disposal squad has arrived at the scene and is examining the debris. It is currently unknown whether the blast was caused by a planted device, a gas cylinder, or a mechanical failure. The entire judicial complex has been evacuated following the blast. On Tuesday morning, news of an attack on a security forces convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, sent shockwaves through the area. It was an IED blast, injuring more than 10 policemen.
According to local media, Pakistani Army and Frontier Police personnel were returning from a Loni post late Monday night when the blast occurred near Dera Ismail Khan district. The attack, which was described as a suicide attack, occurred near the main gate of the Cadet College in Waziristan district, bordering Afghanistan.
