New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released new video footage related to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The video shows a suspect fleeing the scene just moments after the shooting. In the footage, the individual can be seen running across a rooftop, climbing down its edge, and then entering a wooded area near the Utah Valley University campus.

In an official statement, the FBI said that on September 10 at approximately 12:00 PM Mountain Time, the suspect climbed onto a rooftop. After shooting Charlie Kirk, he jumped down and fled the scene. He is believed to have discarded a firearm and ammunition in the wooded area near the university.

The agency added that evidence collected from the rooftop includes shoe prints, arm marks, and palm impressions. The FBI has urged the public to share any information they may have, either by calling or submitting tips online. In the video, the suspect is seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, a cap, sunglasses, and carrying a backpack.

To further identify the suspect, a DNA investigation of the crime scene is underway. The Governor of Utah addressed the media on Friday, warning against the spread of false information online. He urged citizens not to forward such misinformation and echoed Kirk’s earlier message: in times of crisis, it is better to put phones down and spend time with family. He stated that “our enemies want violence.”

As of now, no arrests have been made, but reports indicate that police have identified a person of interest. A manhunt is ongoing, with over 200 leads and tips received so far. Multiple investigative angles are being pursued. The FBI has announced a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Charlie Kirk, 31, was delivering a speech at a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday when he was suddenly shot. He was rushed to the hospital but died shortly afterward. Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), one of the most prominent conservative student organizations in the country.

Kirk founded TPUSA in 2012 at the age of 18 in Arizona, and the organization has since grown to include over 800 chapters across U.S. colleges. It has become a major political force, especially among young conservative voters, and played a significant role in supporting Donald Trump’s re-election campaign in the 2024 election.
