Chicago (The Uttam Hindu): Tragedy struck the River North neighborhood of Chicago when a mass shooting erupted outside a rapper’s album release party late Wednesday night, leaving four people dead and at least 14 others hospitalized. According to Chicago police, unidentified assailants arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on the crowd gathered outside a restaurant and lounge hosting the event. After the barrage of bullets, the suspects fled the scene in their vehicle and remain at large.

Authorities confirmed that the shooting occurred during a high-profile party attended by dozens. The victims include 13 women and 5 men, aged between 21 and 32. Tragically, two women and two men succumbed to their injuries. Emergency services rushed the injured to multiple hospitals: nine victims were taken to Northwestern Hospital, where two women died, while five were transported to John H. Stroger Hospital, with both men declared dead there. At least three of the injured are in critical condition.

Police teams arrived on the scene within minutes, but no arrests have been made yet. Investigators are combing through surveillance footage and gathering witness statements to identify the shooters. Authorities urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the apprehension of those responsible for what police described as a targeted and brazen attack.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, a Croatian court on Thursday sentenced 52-year-old Kresimir Pahoki to 50 years in prison for a mass shooting at a nursing home nearly a year ago that killed six people, including his mother, and injured several others. The Municipal Court in Bjelovar found him guilty on 13 counts, including murder and attempted murder.
