90-Year-Old Mother Turns Lawyer to Defend Son in ₹142 Crore Extortion Case
China(The Uttam Hindu): A 90-year-old mother from China has set an unprecedented example of love and determination after spending years studying law to fight for her 57-year-old son’s freedom. Her son, identified as Lin, was arrested in April 2023 for allegedly extorting nearly ₹142 crore (12.3 million yuan) from wealthy businessman Huang, once ranked among China’s 100 richest people with assets worth over 8 billion yuan in 2009.
According to reports, Lin and Huang were former business partners in a gas production venture. Disputes arose when Huang allegedly delayed payments, which eventually forced Lin’s gas factory to shut down, leading to severe financial loss. Between 2014 and 2017, Lin is accused of threatening to expose Huang’s company’s financial irregularities, allegedly forcing him to pay ₹142 crore. Years later, in 2023, Huang filed an extortion complaint, leading to Lin’s arrest.
Devastated but determined, Lin’s 90-year-old mother refused to give up. She took the bold step of enrolling in law studies, mastering complex legal texts, and preparing to represent her son in court. This remarkable act has sparked widespread admiration across Chinese social media, with many calling her a “symbol of unwavering love and courage.”
She is now ready to stand in the courtroom, facing seasoned lawyers and prosecutors, to defend her son’s case. Whether or not she wins, her story has already made history as a testament to a mother’s relentless fight for justice.
