“Nice to be among friends and foes,” Trump says in Davos, adds no one can save Greenland
Davos (The Uttam Hindu) - US President Donald Trump praised his efforts in Davos and expressed disappointment over a divided Europe. He began his address in a measured tone. He said, "It feels good to be here for the second time among so many friends and some enemies." Along with this, Trump has made a big statement about Greenland. He said that Greenland is not land but a beautiful piece of ice.
Greenland is needed for national security.
Trump reiterated his old statement that no one except America can protect Greenland. He said that giving it back to Denmark after World War II was his country's biggest mistake, for which it received only ingratitude in return. He said that we also need Greenland for national security. In his speech, Trump said that America will not use force to acquire Greenland. This is the biggest announcement of this evening.
'I love Europe, but…'
Trump said that Europe's immigration policies and economic policies have had disastrous results, while in comparison, America is witnessing an 'economic miracle'. He said, "I love Europe and I want Europe to progress, but it is not going in the right direction. Ever-increasing government spending, uncontrolled large-scale immigration and endless foreign imports are responsible for this." Trump has said that in economic matters, Europe should become like America and do what America is doing.
Trump also attacked "unchecked mass migration" and Europe's green energy focus. He claimed that some places in Europe are "literally unrecognizable." He said that friends come back from different places and say negatively, "I can't recognize it." Trump stressed that he wants Europe to do well, but claimed that Europe is not headed in the right direction.
Praising the US economic situation, the US President said that the country has controlled inflation and achieved great economic success. He claimed that the US economy has strengthened under his leadership. Trump said that due to his tariff policy, America has been successful in reducing its deficit to a great extent. He mentioned the agreements made with countries like Japan and South Korea. He said, "These agreements increase economic growth and boost the stock markets. Not just in America, but in almost every country that comes to an agreement with us."
