New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Peace talks between the United States and Iran have begun in Pakistan triggering fresh diplomatic activity at the global level. Amid these developments, US President Donald Trump made a strong statement, saying the situation could shift significantly in the coming days as negotiations progress.

During an interaction, Trump described Iran as a “failed state” but also signalled that a positive outcome in talks could improve the situation. He referred to the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil supply, expressing hope that it may reopen soon if discussions move forward constructively.

Reports indicate that direct negotiations between the two countries are not currently taking place with back-channel communication being facilitated through Pakistan. Trump said it would soon become clear how serious Iran is about the process, adding that alternative global oil supply options are also being explored.

He also issued a warning, stating that if the talks fail, the United States is prepared for a “reset.” The remark is being viewed as a clear signal that Washington could adopt tougher measures if diplomatic efforts do not yield results.
