Double attack near UK synagogue: Attacker runs car over people, stabs others; shot dead by police

London (The Uttam Hindu): At least four people were injured in a double car-ramming and knife attack near a synagogue in Manchester, UK, on Wednesday morning. According to Greater Manchester Police, a suspected attacker first ran over people with his car and then attacked them with a knife. Police responded swiftly and shot the suspect.


According to police, the shocking incident occurred in the Crumpsall area, north of the city. At 9:31 a.m., a member of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue called police to report a car driving into people in a public area and a man being stabbed. Police declared the incident a major incident at 9:37 a.m. Just a minute later, at 9:38 a.m., armed police officers on the scene opened fire on the suspected attacker.


Ambulance teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident at 9:41 a.m. and began treating the injured. The suspect, who was shot, was also taken to the hospital. Police confirmed that four people were injured in the attack, suffering from both car and knife injuries. Police have cordoned off the area and urged the public to stay away. The investigation is ongoing.
