"You'd Have to Shut Down All Business and Go Back to South Africa," Trump Threatens Musk
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The tension between US President Donald Trump and industrialist Elon Musk seems to be increasing. Trump has indirectly warned Musk that he may have to close his business. This threat has come at a time when Musk, who was once considered close to Trump, has questioned his policies.
Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, "Elon Musk knew before he endorsed me for president that I was staunchly against making EVs mandatory. This is nonsense and it has always been part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to buy them. Elon got more subsidies than anyone in history and without subsidies he might have to shut down his business and go back to South Africa."
In his post, he further said, No rocket launches, no satellites and no electric cars produced… and our country will save a lot of money. Maybe DOGE should seriously consider this. A lot of money will be saved!
The statement comes a day after Musk objected to a Trump administration bill and hinted at forming a new political party. Musk had described the bill as "insane" which raises the debt limit by a record $5 trillion, and said it would hurt ordinary Americans.
"With the insane spending of this bill, which raises the debt ceiling to a record five trillion dollars, it's clear we live in a one-party country - the Porky Pig Party! It's time to form a new political party that actually cares about people," Musk wrote.
It is worth noting that Trump and Musk had a good relationship while he was the President, but after the election, there has been a distance between the two due to the change in policies regarding electronic vehicles.
