Good news amid Middle East war, Iran opens Strait of Hormuz for India, China and 3 other nations

Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Seyed Abbas Araghchi has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is not completely closed but selectively restricted. He stated that the route has been kept open for friendly nations, including India, China, Iraq, Russia, and Pakistan.
In a statement on state television, Araghchi said that the Strait is only restricted for “enemies and their allies.” He emphasized that there is no reason to allow passage to ships belonging to the United States, Israel, and their partners.
According to him, Iran’s armed forces are ensuring safe passage for vessels from friendly countries. While ships and oil tankers linked to the US and Israel are being stopped, others are allowed to pass after proper coordination.
This development comes at a time when rising tensions in the Middle East have disrupted global energy markets. Oil prices have surged, and shipping companies are facing increased uncertainty. Iran has clarified that the route is not fully blocked but is being controlled selectively.
The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial chokepoint for global oil trade, through which nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply passes. With escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, control over this route has become more stringent.
Araghchi also made it clear that Iran’s current policy is to continue “resistance” and that it is not in a mood for negotiations. He stated that discussing talks at this stage would be equivalent to surrender.
This statement came shortly after a warning from the White House, where Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that if Iran does not move towards a peace agreement, it could face serious consequences. She added that discussions are ongoing and moving in a positive direction.
