Tel Aviv (The Uttam Hindu): Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad has revealed that Hamas is building an operational network in Europe through covert cells that can carry out attacks the moment they receive orders. According to Mossad, coordination with European security agencies has led to the recovery of weapons, arrests of suspects, and the prevention of several planned attacks. These actions have helped foil plots targeting Israeli and Jewish communities.

During joint operations in Germany and Austria, multiple people were detained and weapons intended for attacks on civilians were seized. A major breakthrough came in Vienna last September, when Austria’s DSN security service recovered hidden pistols and explosive materials later linked to Mohammed Naim, son of senior Hamas leader Bassem Naim. Mossad claims that Hamas’s foreign leadership is quietly supporting these activities. The agency also stated that a meeting in Qatar last September between Mohammed Naim and his father indicates formal backing for Hamas’s operations in Europe.

Investigators are also monitoring Hamas supporters operating from Turkey. In November, Germany arrested Burhan al-Khatib, who is believed to have been active in Turkey earlier. According to Mossad, repeated denials by top Hamas leaders suggest they may be losing control over their radical operatives.

European agencies are not only tightening security measures but also acting against charities and religious institutions suspected of raising funds for Hamas or spreading extremist ideology.

Mossad said that after the 7 October attack, Hamas has accelerated its global operations and is trying to develop covert cells and operational capabilities abroad, similar to the strategies used by Iran and its allied groups. The agency added that it is working to disrupt multiple plots worldwide to ensure the safety of Israeli and Jewish communities.
