Tensions erupt again — Hamas publicly shoots eight amid broken peace pact
Jerusalem (The Uttam Hindu): The ink has barely dried on the historic Gaza peace agreement reached in Egypt when the terrorist organization Hamas has openly flouted it. Despite the agreement establishing a ceasefire and Hamas agreeing to surrender its weapons, a shocking video has emerged from Gaza. In it, Hamas fighters force eight people, accusing them of being Israeli spies, to their knees and then shoot them in the head, killing them.
This video, reportedly from Monday evening, has gone viral on social media. It clearly shows eight people being forced to kneel on the street, their hands and feet bound and blindfolded. Then, as the crowd chants "Allah Hu Akbar," Hamas commanders shoot each of them in the head one by one. This brutal method of execution is reminiscent of the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). In the video, Hamas commanders are wearing green scarves, the organization's hallmark.
This action by Hamas is a direct violation of the peace proposal agreed to by Israel after mediation by the United States, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar. The key condition of this agreement was that Hamas would completely surrender its weapons and peace would be established in Gaza.
Hamas issued a statement calling the victims criminals and Israeli collaborators, though it offered no evidence to support its claims. This incident clearly demonstrates that Hamas, rather than surrendering its weapons, is attempting to further consolidate its hold on Gaza. This also poses a significant challenge to Israel, which had stipulated a ceasefire condition: Hamas either surrender its weapons or leave Gaza. Currently, Hamas appears unwilling to comply with either condition.
