"I stopped seven wars for world peace, and no one has done more than me": Donald Trump
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump has stated that his primary goal is to promote "world peace." Trump said that no one has done more for world peace than he has. The US president claims to have resolved seven wars in the past eight months in office.
"We are working very hard to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Chinese President Xi Jinping and I have talked about this, and I believe he would also like to see it accomplished. I think he will work with us to help us," the US president said, quoting a video released from the White House.
Trump said that despite his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stopping the conflict in Ukraine was the "hardest" he had ever faced. "Nobody has done what we've done in the last few months. We've stopped seven wars." Trump also said that the Russia-Ukraine war, which he thought would probably be the easiest, turned out to be the hardest.
The high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly will begin on September 22 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Asked about the agenda of the meeting on Friday, Trump said, "World Peace." Trump said, "I stopped seven wars for world peace." He attributed this to his policies and said that this did not include the air strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, which the US completely destroyed. Trump, elaborating on these attacks, said that he had ordered more bombs, including those launched from B-2 bombers. He said that every single bomb hit its target. He also mentioned launching 30 bombs from a submarine.
He said, "Although I am not including all of these things, this may have averted a terrible war." He also spoke about his diplomatic achievements and his ongoing efforts to reach a settlement between Russia and Ukraine. He said that Chinese President Xi Jinping has supported efforts to end the war. "We are working hard to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict." Earlier, US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping spoke by telephone.
The two leaders discussed issues related to trade, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the approval of the TikTok deal. The US president also stated that the two leaders have agreed to meet during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea next month. This summit will take place on October 31st and November 1st.
