If I had not intervened, PAK PM would have been killed: Donald Trump claims he prevented india-pakistan nuclear war
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump on Wednesday once again claimed credit for an alleged ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Addressing lawmakers during his State of the Union speech, he asserted that his intervention helped avert a potential nuclear conflict between the two nations.
Trump stated that the situation could have escalated into a nuclear war. According to him, “A nuclear war could have broken out between Pakistan and India.” He further claimed that “30 million people believe that if I had not intervened, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would have been killed.”
Earlier last week, Trump had reiterated that he played a key role in halting the conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025. Speaking at the ‘Board of Peace’ programme, he said he had warned both countries that the United States would suspend trade talks if they failed to resolve their differences.
In recent months, Trump has reportedly made this claim more than 80 times, stating that he deserves credit for preventing an India-Pakistan confrontation. However, he has given varying figures regarding the number of jets shot down during the conflict and has not clarified which country’s aircraft he was referring to.
