New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions between India and Bangladesh have intensified amid protests in India over alleged violence against minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh. Against this backdrop, the interim Yunus government has summoned Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, to Dhaka.

According to reports, Riaz Hamidullah was issued an urgent summons and subsequently departed from New Delhi for Dhaka. The development has been confirmed by Bangladesh’s leading daily Prothom Alo.

Why was the summons issued?

As per the report, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the summons on Monday. Riaz Hamidullah reached Dhaka late at night. The newspaper stated that he has been called back for consultations regarding the current state of India-Bangladesh relations and the prevailing situation between the two countries.

The move comes at a time when diplomatic relations between New Delhi and Dhaka are facing renewed strain, with protests and political reactions adding to the growing tension.
