New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid growing challenges in India-US relations, China has expressed willingness to work more closely with India. On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that both India and China are major developing nations and key members of the Global South, and Beijing is ready to properly resolve differences and cooperate with New Delhi.

With tariff disputes causing strains in India-US ties, signs of a fresh thaw are emerging between India and China. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is expected to visit India soon, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to China for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

“We are implementing the important consensus reached between our leaders, maintaining the momentum of high-level exchanges, strengthening political mutual trust, expanding practical cooperation, and promoting steady development of China-India relations,” Lin Jian said.

Beijing also confirmed that direct flights between India and China will resume next month, likely to be announced during the SCO summit in August-September. “With a combined population of over 2.8 billion, resuming flights will boost cross-border travel, exchanges, and cooperation,” the spokesperson noted.

Addressing recent positive momentum in India-China ties, Lin Jian remarked, “The dragon and the elephant should work together for each other’s success. This is the right choice for both sides.”
