New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India strongly attacked Pakistan in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), exposing its double character. India said that Pakistan is making false allegations to hide its wrong actions, human rights violations and cross-border terrorism. India's Permanent Representative, Ambassador Parvataneni Harish condemned Pakistan's actions in the open debate on Children and Armed Conflict (CAC) and said that it is misusing this platform.

Ambassador Harish said, "Pakistan is needlessly questioning the UN processes and trying to defame India to divert attention from the atrocities being committed against children in its own country and cross-border terrorism. We completely reject this attempt." He called Pakistan a major culprit of violating children's rights and said that it not only commits atrocities against children in its own country, but children are also being killed by its military actions on the Afghanistan border.

Pakistan's terrorism and atrocities on children

Harish referred to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, in which 26 Indian tourists lost their lives. He said, "The world has not forgotten these brutal attacks by Pakistani and Pakistan-trained terrorists." He referred to the Security Council statement of 25 April, which stressed the need to punish the perpetrators, organizers, funders and sponsors of this attack.

Reiterating India's tough stance against terrorism, the ambassador referred to the retaliatory action taken under Operation Sindoor on May 7. He said, "India carried out balanced and precise attacks in which nine terrorist hideouts were targeted." He said that those killed in these attacks were buried with state honors in Pakistan, which shows the country's policy of promoting terrorism.

Pakistan's double standards

Harish referred to the UN Secretary-General's recent CAC report, which mentioned serious violations against children in Pakistan. He said, "The Secretary-General expressed concern over the attacks on schools, especially girls' schools, health workers and the killing and injury of children along the Afghan border due to cross-border firing and air strikes by the Pakistani army."

He condemned the firing by the Pakistani army on Indian border villages in May 2025, which led to civilian deaths and injuries. He said, “It is gross hypocrisy to preach on this platform after such actions.” At the end of his statement, Harish reiterated India's firm stand on Jammu and Kashmir and said, “The entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was, is and will always remain an integral and inseparable part of India, no matter how many lies Pakistan spreads.”
