Indians Cancel 250% More Trips to Turkey and Azerbaijan Amid Political Backlash

Turkey(The Uttam Hindu): In response to rising diplomatic tensions, Indian travelers are cancelling trips to Turkey and Azerbaijan in large numbers. Reports indicate a dramatic rise in cancellations, with some travel platforms seeing up to a 250% increase. This surge follows a growing call for a boycott after both countries supported Pakistan during India’s Operation Sindoor.

MakeMyTrip revealed that bookings to these nations have fallen by 60%, with cancellations up by 250% for group and honeymoon packages. The company has also stopped promoting travel to these destinations.

EaseMyTrip has similarly reported a rise in cancellations and issued an advisory urging travelers to avoid these countries unless absolutely necessary. The move comes as many Indians express their solidarity with the nation.

This boycott could significantly impact tourism to Turkey and Azerbaijan, especially as both are popular destinations for Indian travelers, particularly during the summer months. Travel experts predict that this sentiment may cause long-term shifts toward politically neutral destinations.
