New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Former US President Donald Trump has made a significant statement regarding India's oil trade with Russia. Speaking at a recent press interaction, Trump claimed that India might soon stop purchasing oil from Russia—calling it a "good step" if confirmed.

Trump clarified that his remarks were based on reports he had come across and that he was unsure of the authenticity of the information. “I’ve heard that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, it’s a positive development,” he said. Trump added that further developments on the matter would be worth watching.

India Responds: Responding to the buzz, India reaffirmed the strength of its long-standing relationship with Russia. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India-Russia ties have remained steady and time-tested over the years.

At the same time, India emphasized its strong and evolving partnership with the United States, rooted in shared strategic interests, democratic principles, and close people-to-people connections. The government expressed confidence that India-US relations will continue to move forward, regardless of current global tensions.
