Kabul (The Uttam Hindu): Afghanistan’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, is currently on a visit to India. Inviting Indian companies to invest in Afghanistan, he said that his government is working to create a supportive environment to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Azizi highlighted mining, agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, IT, energy, and textiles as key sectors with strong investment potential.

He also encouraged greater participation from Afghanistan’s Hindu and Sikh communities and assured that the country is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and business-friendly atmosphere for all stakeholders.

During his five-day visit to New Delhi, the Afghan minister arrived with a high-level delegation. He said, “I invite Indian entrepreneurs to come to Afghanistan and explore the opportunities and the favorable environment we have created. There are significant prospects in mining, agriculture, health, and IT, and we welcome Indian industry.”

Azizi addressed an event hosted by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi, where he thanked the Indian government for its continuous support. He shared that Afghanistan is offering several incentives to promote investment including just one percent duty on raw materials and machinery, free land allocation, reliable electricity supply, and tax exemptions for new businesses for up to five years.

Both India and Afghanistan have agreed on various steps to enhance bilateral trade. Currently, trade between the two countries stands at nearly USD 1 billion. Meanwhile, the Indian government confirmed that air cargo services between India and Afghanistan will soon be resumed.
