950 Killed, 3,000 Injured: Israel’s Airstrikes Devastate Iran, U.S. Launches Massive Operation Against Nukes
Dubai (The Uttam Hindu): The tension between Iran and Israel has taken a severe and deadly turn. Ongoing attacks between the two nations have resulted in the deaths of many innocent civilians. According to human rights groups, at least 950 Iranians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, and over 3,000 people have been injured.
Human rights activists based in Washington have released the casualty figures from Iran. According to the group, the attacks on Iran have killed more than 380 civilians and over 253 Iranian military personnel. It is worth noting that amid the escalating crisis in the Middle East, Iran is no longer releasing daily casualty reports. However, on Saturday, Iran's Ministry of Health stated that around 400 Iranians had been killed and 3,056 injured in Israeli attacks.
Additionally, the United States has also conducted airstrikes on several Iranian locations, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities. Following the U.S. strike, Iran issued a statement acknowledging significant damage but assured that its nuclear weapons remain fully secure.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that the American military action has completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program. Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance indicated that Washington is still open to diplomatic engagement with Tehran. In a press briefing at the Pentagon, Hegseth stated, “We have dismantled Iran’s nuclear program.” He added that the operation was carried out on the direct orders of U.S. President Donald Trump, with a focus on secrecy and precision. He emphasized, “Our Commander-in-Chief's orders were clear, powerful, and focused.”
The military campaign was named ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’, which targeted Iran’s three main nuclear sites: Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. According to Hegseth, the strike involved more than 125 military aircraft, including B-2 stealth bombers, 14 GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs, and over 30 Tomahawk missiles.
