Tehran (The Uttam Hindu) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning that any attack on Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would be considered open war against the entire Iranian nation. The warning comes after a heated exchange of words with US President Donald Trump.

Pezeshkian wrote on the social media platform X that an attack on our great leader would be tantamount to a full-scale war against Iran. His statement comes at a time of heightened tensions following Trump's statement in an interview that Iran needs new leadership.

The Iranian president wrote, "Any attack on our great leader would be tantamount to a full-scale war against the Iranian nation." He blamed the US for the country's economic troubles. He said the Iranian people are facing immense hardship due to the long-standing hostility and inhumane sanctions imposed by the US and its allies.

Earlier, Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei had called Donald Trump a criminal, accusing him of being responsible for the deaths and damage caused by Iran's recent unrest.

Donald Trump also launched a scathing attack on Iran's leadership. He said that the decades-long junta in Iran must end and the country must find new leadership. According to Trump, the protests in Iran in recent weeks are the result of public anger linked to political pressure, economic crisis, and human rights violations.

Trump accused Iran's leaders of ruling through fear and violence, saying the current leadership resorts to repression to remain in power and has led the country to ruin.

Relations between Tehran and Washington have remained increasingly tense since Trump's second term, with the US continuing its policy of hard pressure and frequent wars of words between the leaders of the two countries.
