Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Rejects Direct Talks with U.S., Says “Tehran Will Never Bow”
Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has strongly rejected the possibility of direct talks with the United States, declaring that Iran will never bow to American pressure. In a speech delivered in Tehran on Sunday, Khamenei said that Washington’s demand for Iran to “obey” its dictates was humiliating, and the Islamic Republic would never accept such conditions.
Citing the June 13 attack on Iran, Khamenei alleged that groups linked to the U.S. met in a European capital the very next day to discuss a “post-Islamic Republic” order, even suggesting the restoration of monarchy. According to him, the strength of the Iranian people and institutions thwarted these attempts.
Khamenei also referred to recent Israeli and American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling them deliberate efforts to destabilize Iran. He asserted that Tehran responded firmly to these provocations.
The Supreme Leader urged domestic unity and expressed support for President Masoud Pezeshkian, warning that Iran’s adversaries were now trying to create internal divisions. He condemned Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza, urged Western nations to halt their support for Tel Aviv, and justified the Houthi attacks on Israel as legitimate resistance.
Notably, relations between Tehran and Washington have been frozen since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the subsequent U.S. Embassy hostage crisis. Since then, Washington has imposed a series of sanctions on Iran, the latest tied to its nuclear program.
