Middle East crisis deepens as Iran warns of prolonged war; Benjamin Netanyahu signals fresh action
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran continue to escalate, impacting the entire Middle East region. Currently, the prospect of calm appears dim. While the United States and Israel are jointly attacking Iranian bases, Iran is responding with missile attacks.
Israel has launched major attacks targeting Iranian oil storage facilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that more "surprises" are in store for Iran. Loud explosions were heard in Tehran and the neighboring city of Karaj on Saturday.
Israeli forces bombed several fuel storage complexes, sending plumes of fire and smoke billowing into the sky. Videos on social media showed huge flames rising from the attacked areas. According to reports, the US and Israel have targeted Iran's energy infrastructure, striking several oil storage depots in Tehran and Alborz province.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement to Fars News Agency on Sunday that Iran is capable of continuing intense conflict with the US and Israel for at least six months.
IRGC spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini said, "The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran can continue the conflict for at least six months at the current pace of operations." The Guards also claimed to have targeted more than 200 US and Israeli military bases and their associated sites across the region.
