New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The tension between Israel and Iran continues to escalate. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed that Iran has once again fired missiles towards Israel. The IDF is fully active in intercepting these missiles. Continuous air raid sirens are being heard in major cities like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and residents are being urged to stay in safe shelters.

According to a CNN report, a loud explosion was heard in Jerusalem amid the blaring sirens. In videos circulating on social media, missile trails lighting up the sky can be clearly seen. Israel’s emergency service agency, Magen David Adom, reported that their teams are actively engaged in relief efforts in the affected areas.

This conflict has been ongoing for four days. According to Iran's Ministry of Health, 230 people have died in Israeli attacks so far, with 90% of them being civilians. In Iran’s counterattacks, 10 people, including children, have died in Israel.

Israel has targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, top military commanders, and ballistic missile sites in its airstrikes. According to an AFP report, Israel’s next planned target was Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but this move was reportedly delayed following a stern warning from the United States. Attempts at negotiating a ceasefire have also failed. Iran has clearly informed mediators Qatar and Oman that no ceasefire will be considered until there is a full response to Israel’s attacks.

On Saturday night, Israel launched massive airstrikes on over 80 sites in Tehran. On Sunday, the Israeli Air Force bombed two oil wells in the Iranian capital. In addition, Tehran’s police headquarters and the Ministry of Defense were also targeted. The situation continues to deteriorate, and the international community's concerns are deepening. In this tense atmosphere, there is an urgent need for global diplomatic efforts to establish peace.
