King Charles III’s brother Andrew freed after questioning in Epstein case
London (The Uttam Hindu): Former British Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was detained on Thursday in connection with an alleged case involving Jeffrey Epstein and later released. Andrew, 66, is accused of sending government documents to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. He was taken into custody at his Sandringham Estate home in eastern England on his 66th birthday.
After approximately 11 hours of questioning, he was released under the "under investigation" category. This means that no formal charges have been filed against him at this time, but the investigation will continue.
Following the arrest, his brother, King Charles III, issued a statement saying, "I have heard the news regarding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Allegations of misconduct in public office are being investigated. The law must be allowed to take its course."
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in his relationship with Epstein. However, he has acknowledged that befriending Epstein was a major mistake. No public statement has been issued by his wife and children since his arrest. British Prime Minister Starmer also responded, saying, "The law must take its course and no one is above the law."
Andrews is accused of sending government documents to Epstein in 2010, when he served as the government's special representative for trade and investment. He resigned from this position in 2011 after controversy surrounding his ties to Epstein escalated.
