King Charles removes titles from brother and evicts him from royal residence
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Britain's King Charles has stripped his younger brother Andrew of his title of Prince and expelled him from their Windsor home due to his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. This move by Prince Charles is one of the harshest decisions taken against a family member in the history of modern monarchy.
Former Prince Andrew, who has been estranged from the royal family, will move to a private residence on the Sandringham Estate in eastern England. According to a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, Andrew has been given formal notice to relinquish the lease of his royal residence on the Windsor Estate in west London. 65-year-old Andrew, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth, is facing mounting pressure over his irresponsible behaviour and links with the late sex offender Epstein. Earlier in October, he was forced to stop using his title of Duke of York.
This move by King Charles has caused considerable uproar in Britain. King Charles has taken strong action against Andrew, stripping him of all his titles. Buckingham Palace stated, "This censure is considered necessary, even though he continues to deny the allegations against him. Her Majesty wishes to make it clear that her thoughts and deepest sympathies have been and remain with the victims and survivors of any form of abuse." Andrew served as a naval officer during the Falklands War with Argentina in the early 1980s. He was forced to step down as Britain's trade ambassador in 2011 and resigned from all royal duties in 2019. Subsequently, in 2022, he faced allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has always denied. He was also stripped of his military ties and royal patronages.
