London protest erupts over murder of Hindu youth, tensions escalate
London (The Uttam Hindu): The protests in London against the murder of Bangladeshi Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das have become a topic of international discussion. Expressing concern for the safety of minorities in Bangladesh, expatriate Bangladeshi Hindus held a peaceful protest outside the Bangladesh High Commission in London. They demanded that the perpetrators in this case be punished severely and the safety of the Hindu community in the country be ensured.
Hindus protest in London over the murder of a Hindu youth; Khalistanis come out in support of Bangladesh; situation becomes tense: The situation during the demonstration turned tense when pro-Khalistani groups also reached there. According to eyewitnesses, these groups opposed the protesters and allegedly raised slogans in favour of the interim government of Bangladesh. Anticipating the possibility of the situation worsening due to the confrontation between the two sides, London police intervened and controlled the situation.
This development has also drawn attention to the growing connections between various radical groups active in diaspora politics. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, associated with the organization "Sikhs for Justice," known for its anti-India activities, has recently been in the news again for his statements. According to reports, he has expressed support for some radical elements in Bangladesh in video messages released from abroad.
Pannu has been accused of making inflammatory statements and controversial claims against India. Recently, a controversy erupted over a map he released, purportedly showing India's northeastern states as separate. The Indian government has already categorically rejected such claims.
It is noteworthy that some radical elements have previously made inflammatory statements regarding Northeast India. Experts believe that such statements are intended to spread regional instability and create confusion internationally. Relevant agencies are closely monitoring these activities.
