Major terrorist attack on Pakistani army convoy,: 32 soldiers killed, 3 vehicles blown
Balochistan (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan, which has long been facing allegations of harboring terrorism, is now itself facing the bite of its own snakes. At least 32 soldiers have been killed and dozens injured in a horrific terrorist attack targeting a Pakistani army convoy on the Karachi-Quetta national highway near Zero Point in Khuzdar, Balochistan. The attack was carried out through a powerful vehicle-based improvised explosive device (VBIED).
According to sources, the attackers had planted the explosive in a parked car. As soon as the army convoy, which included about 8 vehicles, passed by, it was detonated. Three vehicles were directly hit by the blast, including a bus in which the families of army personnel were reportedly travelling. The blast was so powerful that the vehicles were blown to pieces and a cloud of smoke spread far and wide.
Earlier, news of terrorist incidents used to come from remote areas of Pakistan, but now this trend has reached big cities. In recent times, many big attacks have taken place from Peshawar to Karachi, which has raised serious questions on the security system of the country. Analysts believe that the terrorist groups which once had the support of Pakistan are now proving to be Bhasmasura for it.
After this major attack, Pakistani officials are reportedly trying to hide their security lapse. According to information received from internal sources, officials are trying to portray this incident as an attack on a school bus, so as to reduce the severity of the direct attack on the army and cover up their failure.
Earlier, a terrorist attack also took place on the same Karachi-Quetta highway on May 21. At that time, terrorists had targeted an Army Public School bus near Khuzdar town, in which five children including the driver died tragically. These continuous incidents have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the general public of Pakistan, especially the residents of Balochistan. The government and the army have so far failed to stop these attacks, due to which the anger of the people is increasing.
