New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Incidents of violence have once again surfaced in Nepal. Due to the deteriorating situation in the Parsa and Dhanusha districts of Nepal bordering India, a high alert has been issued for the entire area. The Indian border has also been sealed to prevent any untoward incidents.
Violence in Dhanusha District Starts with Vandalism of Mosque
In the Sakhuva Maran area of Dhanusha district, some anti-social elements vandalized a mosque. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking communal violence in the area. The controversy escalated after images of the violence went viral on social media.
Violent protests in Parsa
Protests in Birgunj, Parsa, turned violent, prompting police to fire tear gas shells to control the situation. In Birgunj, which is located near Bihar's Raxaul district, a crowd protested by burning tires on the road. Protesters then pelted police with stones, prompting police to bring the situation under control by firing tear gas shells.
India-Nepal border sealed
As the situation near the Birgunj and Raxaul border remained tense, Indian authorities sealed their border as well. This move was taken in view of further escalating violence in the region.
According to Nepal Police, the mosque vandalism
inflamed religious sentiments and led to a conflict between the two communities. After hate messages went viral on social media, some young people, particularly from the Muslim community, took to the streets and began protesting.
The situation is under control, but the atmosphere remains tense
