New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The central government is now preparing for a major action against Khalistani terrorists and gangsters associated with them who are taking refuge abroad. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) along with intelligence agencies will soon formally inform the US, Britain, Canada, Australia and many European countries that many wanted Khalistani terrorists of India are hiding in these countries with the help of fake passports and fake identity cards.

The government will now put diplomatic pressure on these countries to hand over the terrorists to India. Under this strategy, those fugitives will be targeted who have fled abroad using fake documents to escape Indian law.

This issue was also raised prominently in the two-day National Security Conference of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) held recently in Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had given clear instructions to all state police and central agencies to prepare a detailed list of such Khalistani terrorists and gangsters who have taken refuge abroad on the basis of fake documents.

There have been many cases in the last few years where Khalistani elements travelled to other countries on fake identities. A major example of this was Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was murdered in Surrey, Canada in June 2023. Investigation revealed that Nijjar had travelled to Canada in 1997 on a fake passport in the name of 'Ravi Sharma'.

Similarly, in March this year, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Lazar Masih, a terrorist associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), who was trying to flee abroad by getting a fake passport made from a Delhi gang. Earlier in February 2025, the UP ATS busted a network in Pilibhit that prepared fake visas and documents for Khalistani supporters.

A senior official said that after the IB conference, the Home Ministry and the Foreign Ministry will now take formal action on this plan. The next step of the government is to collect solid evidence against every wanted terrorist and gangster, so that it can be proved that they have obtained visa or asylum on the basis of fake documents. On the basis of these evidences, the process of formal talks for extradition will be started with the concerned countries.
