United Nations (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has effectively acknowledged that its actions in Afghanistan included targeting India’s mission and carrying out airstrikes that resulted in civilian casualties. During a discussion at the United Nations Security Council, India’s Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish raised concerns over cross-border violence and civilian deaths without naming any country. However, Pakistan’s representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmed responded to the remarks, effectively acknowledging Islamabad’s involvement in the strikes.

During the exchange, Ahmed admitted that Pakistan had carried out operations in Afghanistan that led to the deaths of civilians, many of whom were women and children, during the holy month of Ramadan. India criticized the attacks, saying that speaking about international law and Islamic unity while carrying out airstrikes during Ramadan reflected hypocrisy. According to figures mentioned during the discussion, 185 civilians had been killed by March 6, 2026, with women and children accounting for about 55 percent of the victims.

Harish also highlighted India’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, noting that India had provided large quantities of wheat, medicines, vaccines and agricultural support over the past few years. He said India’s support is meant for the people of Afghanistan and is widely recognized internationally. He also praised the Afghanistan national cricket team for inspiring the country’s youth and called for stronger global action against terrorist groups such as Islamic State, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and The Resistance Front. India reiterated that international cooperation is essential to eliminate terrorism and ensure peace and stability in the region.
