Pak Govt Finally Allows Imran Khan’s Sister to Meet Him in Adiala Jail
Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): The Pakistan government has finally given permission to former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khanum, to meet him in Adiala Jail. Local media, quoting jail authorities, confirmed the development. The decision came after growing national and international pressure, as Khan has been denied family visits for several weeks.
According to Dawn, Uzma met her brother inside the jail while several PTI supporters gathered outside. This happened at a time when Section 144 is enforced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry had warned that strict action would be taken against anyone violating Section 144 restrictions.
After several weeks of being denied access to the former prime minister, the PTI had announced protests outside Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail on Tuesday. They demanded restoration of Khan’s right to meet family members. Minister Talal Chaudhry reiterated that Section 144 would be strictly enforced in both cities.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Chaudhry warned that anyone — whether they visit the Islamabad High Court or Adiala Jail — would face action under Section 144 without any discrimination. Section 144 of Pakistan’s Criminal Procedure Code empowers district authorities to temporarily ban gatherings of four or more people in specific areas.
